Trevilley Farm

The Goslings Arrive!

News Date:
May 2011

The fine weather recently has given us a real taste for the summer. I hope that it doesn’t prove to be a false dawn like last year! The dry period has yet to cause real concern for the farm, although grass on south facing slopes is starting to suffer and it has slowed development of our spring drilled corn. The autumn drilled corn has come into head early so there won’t be as much straw for bedding as we would have liked. It would be fair to say that some gentle overnight rain would be welcome!

The good weather has heralded the introduction of new season vegetables and fruit – asparagus, strawberries, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, new potatoes, spinach and lots more.
The winter veg – kale, cabbage, purple and white sprouting broccolis have now come to an end.

The goslings arrived! We get them in as day old chicks.

Customer Survey 2010 - We would like to thank all of those who took part in our Customer Survey at the end of last year.
From the survey, it was clear that our values were an important part of why you shop at Trevilley Farm. However, it was also clear that if produce wasn’t available locally but from the UK, you would also like to see us offer it. Given that produce like apples, pears, mushrooms (the Cornish supplier of mushrooms stopped production at the end of 2010) and onions are not available within Cornwall, in the new year we decided to source produce from the UK - if (and only if) it was not available within the county. This last point is very important to us; our sourcing policy is to source from within the county wherever possible and only when a certain product is not available from within Cornwall, will we then look to source it from within the UK. We have ensured that any non-local produce is clearly marked as such in the shop (and this is something we will continue to work on) and we feel that thus far their quality has been excellent and has enabled us to offer you a good range of produce.
